Interim Committee headed by Eran Wickramaratne appointed to run Sri Lanka Cricket

Following the resignation of Sri Lanka Cricket President Shammi Silva and the Executive Committee, a new interim committee has been appointed to manage Sri Lanka Cricket.

Eran Wickramaratne has been appointed as the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Cricket Restructuring Committee by Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage today (29).

• Kumar Sangakkara
• Thushira Radella
• Sidath Wettimuny
• Avanthi Colombage
• Prakash Schaffter
• Upul Kumarapperuma
• Dinal Philips

The government stated that this temporary measure has been taken to resolve ongoing issues in Sri Lanka Cricket and implement structural reforms in the administration of the sport.

Accordingly, all administrative functions of Sri Lanka Cricket have been brought under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

However, the International Cricket Council maintains strict rules regarding government interference in cricket administration, and Sri Lanka could face ICC scrutiny in the future.

Sri Lanka recently faced heavy criticism following their early exit from the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026.
