Pakistan will boycott the match against India in the 2026 T20 World Cup.
A post on the official X account of the Pakistani government said that the government has given permission to the Pakistani team to travel to Sri Lanka for the tournament.
However, it announced that "the Pakistan cricket team will not take the field in the match against India scheduled for February 15, 2026." The statement did not give a reason for the decision.
Pakistan are in Group A with India, Namibia, the Netherlands and the United States, and will play all their matches in Sri Lanka, which co-hosts the tournament with India.
They will play their first match against the Netherlands on February 7, the opening day of the T20 World Cup, followed by the United States on February 10 and Namibia on February 18. Pakistan will lose the two points they scored in their match against India if the match is boycotted.
