Pakistan has postponed a decision on whether to participate in the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, with a final decision expected on Friday or early next week, Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said.

Naqvi told reporters that the decision would be taken after consultation with the government, as political and diplomatic considerations would influence Pakistan's stance on the tournament.

Pakistan's participation has come under scrutiny due to Bangladesh's withdrawal from the tournament and wider tensions surrounding the hosting arrangements for the event. Naqvi said the PCB is reviewing all options before taking a final decision.

Despite the uncertainty, Pakistan has already announced its squad for the tournament, with its scheduled matches scheduled to be played in Sri Lanka under existing arrangements. The 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
