Scotland have confirmed their participation in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup following an invitation from the International Cricket Council, with Cricket Scotland chairman Wilf Walsh saying the team is "willing and ready to go" for the global tournament in India.
In a statement, Walsh said he had received a call from ICC chairman Jay Shah confirming that Scotland would be invited to play in the tournament, and he was delighted to accept it on behalf of the team.
“We thank the ICC for this opportunity and look forward to competing with some of the best sides in the world in India in the coming weeks,” Walsh said.
Scotland were drafted into the tournament after Bangladesh refused to play matches in India, citing security concerns and requesting venue changes. The ICC rejected the request, and Scotland were invited as the next qualified team based on rankings.
The ICC Men's T20 World Cup is scheduled to begin in February and the matches will be held in India and Sri Lanka.
