The resignations of the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket, including President Shammi Silva, have been officially accepted by the Minister of Sports.
As a result, all administrative functions of Sri Lanka Cricket have been temporarily brought under the control of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports with effect from today, according to an official statement.
The move has been made under the powers vested in the Minister under Sections 31 and 34 of the Sports Act No. 25 of 1973.
The Ministry further stated that a new committee will be appointed shortly to address ongoing issues within Sri Lanka Cricket and to implement structural reforms aimed at improving the governance of the sport.
The newly appointed committee is expected to help restore stability and strengthen the administration of cricket in Sri Lanka.
