Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka has said that pacer Eshan Malinga's participation in the World Twenty20 tournament is doubtful after suffering a shoulder injury in the second T20I against England on Sunday (01).
Speaking at the T20 World Cup captain's press conference in Colombo today, Shanaka said that the pacer's participation could not be confirmed as he is still suffering from a shoulder injury.
Eshan Malinga also missed Sri Lanka's third T20I against England on Tuesday due to a shoulder injury.
Despite the injury, the 24-year-old pacer was named in Sri Lanka's World Cup squad.
The incident occurred in the eighth over of England's chase when the first ball was bowled after the match resumed after a prolonged rain delay. Malinga appeared to tighten his left (non-bowling) shoulder after the ball was released, catch it and fall backwards. The ball itself was deflected, coming above waist height and awarded as a no-ball.
