Sri Lankan spinner Prabhat Jayasuriya has been given an official warning for his conduct in a manner that caused damage to playing equipment during the second Test against India in Colombo.
Jayasuriya was dismissed and was walking to the stadium after hitting the boundary markers with his bat.
Accordingly, one demerit mark has been added to his disciplinary record, the first demerit mark Jayasuriya has received in the last 24 months.
The incident is considered a Level 1 offence under the ICC Player Disciplinary Code. The rule deals with the misuse of cricket equipment or stadium equipment during an international match.
Jayasuriya is the third player to face disciplinary action in the Colombo Test, with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Asitha Fernando also being fined 25% of their match fees and given a demerit point for an incident on the first day.
