The Twenty20 World Cup match against Pakistan in Pallekele today (28) will be the last match for Sri Lanka Cricket head coach Sanath Jayasuriya as coach.
Jayasuriya had confirmed before the start of the tournament that he would step down from his position after the Twenty20 World Cup, and he has not changed his mind so far.
When asked by 'Ada Derana' about his decision to step down, he had said that he had no intention of remaining in the position even if his head coach contract continued.
Jayasuriya, who took over as interim coach during the series against India in July 2024, was appointed as the head coach on a full-time basis at the end of the same year.
During Jayasuriya's tenure as head coach, Sri Lanka has played 74 matches across all formats, winning 34 and losing 38.
In addition, there have been 2 draws.
